S & S wanted a more traditional wedding dance, however something that would still WOW their guests. There was also the logistical issue of a very lavish wedding dress and, due to to their work commitments, not a lot of time to learn a complex routine.
Despite those challenges they did a wonderful job. Both of them couldn’t stop smiling which always makes a first dance look perfect. I am so delighted to be able to show you their wedding dance to Elton John.

Not everyone wants a complicated wedding dance. Some people would prefer that there was NO dancing expected by the Bride and Groom at weddings at all.
In Jamie’s case dancing in public, even in front of friends and family, was something he really wasn’t looking forward to. So he came to a few lessons by himself, not to learn a routine or steps, but to gain enough confidence so he could take Alice out on the floor.
They said “it went well and as you know it was pretty short. Thank you so much for your time and confidence building!”

Dance Company will be closing on Wednesday 21st of December and will be back teaching in January. Right now there are still a few lesson times free in December so if you want some help with your wedding dance do call or email.
Dance Company has moved permanently to the Bay of Plenty. Auckland lessons will no longer continue.
Elly will be teaching out of Studio162 (at 162 Durham St, Tauranga) The venue is centrally located, with great off street parking. The studio we are working from is small, most wedding venues don’t have large spaces available for your first dance, with a wooden floor and mirrors. Its also private, so the doors will be closed and there wont be people watching when you have your lesson.
Elly usually teaches over 90 wedding couples, and a few Fathers of the Bride, a year and each couple has had their own choreography. The songs that couples have used have been as diverse as Motley Crue, Talking Heads and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers through to Buddy Holly, Frank Sinatra and Elle Goulding, wedding party flash mobs to salsa, tango, chacha, modern and Viennese waltzes.
Private lessons for couples are now available in the evenings and on Sundays.

In August Dance Company found a great Tauranga venue at Studio162 (at 162 Durham St, Tauranga) for wedding couple lessons. Â Aaron and Kelly decided to take up the opportunity to have a wedding dance created especially for them.
They wanted a non traditional wedding dance that would WOW their guests. There were also a couple of logistical issues as they weren’t sure of the amount of space they had to dance in, or what the floor surface was going to be.
Despite the challenges they did an amazing job and I am so delighted to be able to show you their wedding dance to Sugar by Maroon 5.
