Hi, I’m Elly
I’ve been teaching dance for many years, and I’ve worked with people of all ages, with all sorts of physical limitations and experience levels.
Over time, I’ve realised that most people don’t walk into a class feeling confident — they walk in feeling unsure.
That’s why I’ve built my group classes to be welcoming, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable.
I’m highly qualified in Ballroom, New Vogue, Latin American, Classical Sequence and Modern Jive dance, but what matters most to me is helping people feel comfortable and capable.
You don’t need to be good. You don’t need experience.
You just need to start.
Philosophy
Dance should be something anyone can enjoy — not something that feels intimidating or out of reach.
The Dance Company has been offering first dance/wedding lessons and private Ballroom, Latin American, New Vogue/Classical Sequence and Modern Jive dance lessons across New Zealand since 2000.
You don’t need to bring a partner for private lessons as Elly can dance both lead and follow.
Elly can also provide lessons to learn a variety of “tricks” like dips and drops for couples to use in the social styles of dance.
She has also taught many brides and grooms and wedding parties to dance to many different kinds of music. Her clients love her interesting “first dance” choreography that suits the music you want to dance to.
