Looking for help with your Wedding dance?
Its that time of the year when couples start planning their spring and summer weddings.
In the 2014-15 “Wedding Season” I had the honor to teach over 40 wedding couples. The songs that couples used have been as diverse as The Red Hot Chilli Peppers through to Buddy Holly, from wedding party flash mobs to a more traditional waltzes.
I have lesson times available during the day as well as evenings, so if you work shift you can still have a wedding dance choreographed just for you.

Looking for advice for your wedding dance?
While every couple will have some specific questions below are two of the more common ones:
How much time do we need to put in?
This depends on what exactly you want your first dance to be. If you want something that’s fairly formal, or with complicated moves or a very slick performance you will need to put aside about 2-3 months of weekly lessons. If you want something a little more casual you could set aside 4-6 weeks. If you just want a few simple moves you could have just one lesson.
You do need to be able to practice between lessons too. Not hours and hours, but enough so each lesson can build on what you both already know.
When should we start?
Its a good ideas to have your choreography done at least 2 weeks before the big day if you can – then you have less to stress about. You can also learn your choreographed wedding dance well in advance and come back for a final run through in the week before their wedding – and that works well for some couples.

Social Salsa is starting
Looking to learn a partner dance that you can use anywhere?
Wayne and Elly are offering a 9 week beginner’s course in Social Salsa, starting Thursday 5 March at 7.45pm – 8.45pm at Just Dance Studio 150 Harris Rd East Tamaki
The course ends with the opportunity to sit a Bronze Social Medal Test with The Society of Australasian Teachers of Dancing N.Z. (Inc).
Classes will cover:
· Basic technique
· How to hear the music
· How to dance and have fun
Its $10 per lesson (cash only – no eftpos) or you can use your current Just Dance concession card.
If you feel you are of a higher standard don’t be shy, turn up anyway and refresh your basics.
