Private Lessons

If you are interested in regular or occasional lessons in Ballroom, Latin American, New Vogue and even Classical Sequence and Modern Jive do contact me. I dance lead and follow so all aspects of the dances are covered if you don’t have a partner.

I am also available to take 2/3 couples in a private lesson if you want to learn to dance with friends or family. This works well if you have a special occasion coming up, if you are just a little bored with what you already know or lead, or if you want to learn a New Vogue or social sequence dance in a way that’s much easier than following another couple on the floor.

“…its great to try something new and we both (think) you are an amazing passionate teacher”.

Wedding dances

I have always advised having your choreography done at least 2 weeks before the big day as it leaves one less thing to stress about. You can also learn your choreographed wedding dance well in advance and come back for a final run through before your wedding – and that works well for some couples. Do consider booking your wedding dance lessons in advance – that means one less thing to worry about closer to the actual day.

Izzy and Max

Izzy and Max had a number of lessons through January and February. This is what they had to say about their experience:

“… we absolutely loved our lessons. They became such a special part of the lead-up to our wedding.
What could have felt quite intimidating at first quickly became something we genuinely looked forward to each week, largely because of the environment – warm, encouraging, relaxed, and genuinely fun.

As soon as the dance was over on the night, we honestly wanted to do it all again. It ended up being one of our favourite experiences leading up to the wedding and such a special memory from the day itself. We had so many comments from guests who were completely blown away!”

” The choreography was excellent and struck such a great balance between looking impressive while still feeling natural and true to us as a couple. We appreciated how collaborative the process felt. Elly had creative ideas but also listened to what felt meaningful to us and incorporated moves that reflected our relationship.”

” .. explanations and demonstrations were always clear, and we appreciated how adaptable you were when we needed to learn something a different way. We especially appreciated was how consistently you filmed parts of the routine as we progressed. Being able to rewatch everything between lessons helped so much with practicing and building confidence.”

Do let me know if I can help you have a memorable experience either your first dance/wedding dance or building your partner dance skills.

Partner Dancing Lessons

If you are looking for Partner Dance Lessons now that the weather is getting a little colder you have come to the right place. I am qualified to Fellowship standard with the South Australian Teachers of Dance and the New Zealand Federation of Teachers of Dance. I teach:

Ballroom (such as Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep ), Latin American (such as Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba) , New Vogue ( such as the Merrilyn, Gypsy Tap, Tangoette, Swing Waltz , Classical Sequence, which was Old Time (such as the Veleta, Mayfair Quickstep ), Modern Sequence and I am also qualified as a Ceroc/Modern Jive Teacher.

I run 6 week Partner Dancing Group Classes that cover 1 Latin American dance and 1 Ballroom dance over a 6 week block. Each lesson in the series builds on the previous ones so I usually don’t accept new students after the series starts.

Classes with a strong social focus are planned for:

Beginners or the less experienced would be welcome on Sundays from 5pm – 6pm. Next series starts on 7th June.

More experienced dancers would be welcome on Tuesdays from 7.30pm – 8.30pm. Next series starts on 2nd of June.

I am also available for Private Lessons in all kinds of styles. Not everyone wants to attend weekly lessons. However it IS possible to get just a little bored with what you already know or lead, or you might want to learn a new New Vogue dance in a way that’s much easier than following another couple on the floor.

So if all you need is a few new moves you can use – or a little confidence to help you get out onto the floor please call or email, I’m sure I can help and I do promise that we will have fun. As one of my new couples said “…its great to try something new and we both (think) you are an amazing passionate teacher”.
